Terra Incognita (Class Exchange Portfolios 2009)

Below are two exhibitions comprised of prints from Professor James Bailey's Advanced Research in Printmaking and Introductory Intaglio printmaking courses. Students created works based on their interpretations of "Terra Incognita". Terra incognita is the Latin term for "unknown land", used in cartography for regions that have not been mapped or documented. The expression is not found in ancient texts, and occurs first in the sixteenth century.

John Armstrong, "Relating Shapes-Remembering Color"

The 17 new works shown here are from the series "Relating Shapes-Remembering Color", recently created by John Armstrong, while he was a visiting artist at The University of Montana. Much of the printing was done in conjunction with faculty and students. The works are epoxy collagraphs, with chine colle and hand coloring. 2009
